Fix: Contact names no longer show as 'Unknown' in All People and global search

Contacts whose lead source sent a single combined name field (common for Facebook ad leads, website form submissions, and Zapier integrations) were saved with their name on the record, but the separate first and last name fields stayed empty. The contact’s own page showed the name correctly, but the All People list displayed “Unknown” and global search results showed only the email address.

What’s Fixed

  • New leads that arrive with only a combined name now have it correctly split into first and last name, so they display properly everywhere.
  • The All People list and global search now fall back to the contact’s saved name (and then email or phone) instead of showing “Unknown” or a blank label.
  • Existing affected contacts are repaired by a one-time backfill that fills in the missing first/last names from the saved name.

Migration

No action required. Affected contacts will display correctly after the backfill runs.
